Say Goodbye to the Monday Blues

Happy Friday loves! I hope you've had a sensational week, and that the weekend will bring lots of fun and some relaxation, too. I have some great news to share, for those who haven't heard!

All too often, people get a case of the "Monday Blues" at the start of the week, and wonder how the weekend went by so fast. Trust me, I've been there; but, for the past year, I've grown to actually love Mondays. My logic is if I start the week off right, that should better prepare me to end the week right, too. Whether you naturally love or loathe Mondays, I'm here to help make the start of your week, every week, sensational!

Two weeks ago, I started my new, weekly live stream series, Sensational Mondays, over on Periscope to inspire and motivate fellow boss ladies, wedding and event enthusiasts, mothers and ladies who rock. If you are already on Periscope then I'm sure you love it just as much as I do, and if you're not on there you need to sign up asap (stay tuned for a future post on why I love the scope so much). Next, you need to follow me @sensationalsoirees, and be sure to turn on notifications, so that you are alerted to join in on my live scopes.

What can you expect from Sensational Mondays? Glad you asked!

  1. Inspiration - From wedding and soiree planning behind the scenes to my home life, you can expect to see it all. I can't wait to share tips, trends and the latest things I love with you.
  2. Education - The more WE know, the more WE grow! I'm all about community, and plan to share freely about the things I've learned as a boss lady, mommy, wifey and more. I hope sharing pieces of my journey inspires you on yours.
  3. Me - For me, live streams allow you to see and feel more of who a person is, beyond a blog or other social media platforms. As I've mentioned here before, I truly want to share more of me because the Sensational Soirees brand at it's core reflects who I am as a person. I want to engage with you via this platform and in turn for you to engage with me. So please ask questions, comment and heart it up during these weekly scopes.
  4. All things sensational! (in 15 minutes or less) - Let's have fun and tap into our greatness! So grab a cup of coffee or your lunch, and let's connect for a few minutes every Monday. While I would love for you to join me during the live broadcast, if ever you miss one you can always catch the replay within 24 hours.

So will you join me? Can't wait to see you this Monday! Share in the comments section your Periscope handle or a topic you'd like me to chat about for a future Sensational Monday.

Have a fabulous weekend!

Sensationally yours,

Shalyce

"Before I Said I Do" Feature

Happy Wedding Wednesday! We hope you had a wonderful time celebrating love on Valentine's Day. Congratulations to all the couples, who got engaged over the love-filled weekend! As a wedding planner, I'm constantly looking for inspiration to assist our brides and grooms in creating their sensational weddings. One of my favorite sources of inspiration is Munaluchi Bride. The renowned and stylish bridal magazine, serving women of color, recently launched a bi-weekly column on their website dedicated to sharing stories and advice from women on how they prepared for married life.

My husband and I will be celebrating our 6th wedding anniversary next month, so I am so honored to have been recently interviewed for the Munaluchi Bride's "Before I Said I Do" column. My interview can be found here. I don't profess to be a marriage expert, but I enjoyed sharing what I've learned over the years and things I'm still learning. Falling in love and marrying the love of your life is truly one of the most wonderful things in this world! Even when you're "crazy in love", that doesn't mean occasionally you might not drive each other crazy.  But guess what, everyday in marriage is totally worth it when you're married to your best friend, and the beautiful life you create together is priceless!

I salute Munaluchi Bride for creating the "Before I Said I Do" column, sharing wedding inspiration, and promoting positive images of love and marriage. If you are engaged, check out their website, magazine and social media pages. Inspiration alone is not enough to pull off a sensational wedding, so be sure to contact us at info@sensationalsoirees.com to schedule your complimentary wedding planning consultation.

Tell us what advice you have for brides-to-be or marriage tips in the discussion section of this post.

Sensationally yours,

Favorite Favors

It's "Tips Tuesday"! Today, we are sharing tips on giving great favors to your guests. As a planner, I focus on ensuring my clients make the best use of their event budget because let's face it, who wants to waste money? Therefore, it's important when choosing a favor that you select an option that your guests will use and enjoy. If you apply our 3 simple tips below in your favor selection process, we are sure you, your guests and your wallet will all be happy. 1) Edible Favors: Food is the key to some men and women's hearts. Well, why not have your guests fall in love with your party by sending them off with an assortment of candy, desserts and/or snacks. Pre-packaged goodies can be personalized to your theme and will make a tasty take away for your guests. Alternatively, having a styled sweets table is a great way to bring added decor to your event and allows your guests to pick and choose what goodies they'd like to take home and enjoy. Either option is perfect for weddings, parties, showers and a wide array of other events. Check out this orange and gold sweets table we did this past November:

2) Themed Favors: If you've chosen a specific theme for your event, selecting a favor that ties into that theme is perfect! This is a great way to keep the party going for your guests even after they've left. Children's parties are a great opportunity to choose cute and clever themed treats. For instance, we created Doc McStuffins prescription bottle, candy favors for a cute 3rd birthday this Summer. It allowed the little guests to play Doc and enjoy a treat, too. This adorable themed favor is available for purchase in our brand new Etsy shop.

Additionally, you can also have a lot of fun with themed, adult party favors. We recently assisted with a chic, Sex and the City themed bridal shower. The ladies all went home with the perfect favor...a mirror compact with a high heel on the front. If that doesn't scream Carrie Bradshaw, I don't know what does!

3) Special Keepsake: Lastly, another great idea for favors is a special keepsake that your guests can have and enjoy for months or even years. To make the most of your keepsake, consider an item that speaks to you but that guests would likely use often. We had the pleasure of assisting with a 90th birthday earlier this year, and the favors were personalized coffee mugs. Given the more mature crowd and the event being held in the winter, it was an excellent choice for guests to later enjoy coffee, tea, hot chocolate and more.

We hope today's tips will help land gifts for your guests in the Favorite Favors category. Among the many services we offer, customized favors is one of them so contact us today at info@sensationalsoirees.com for your upcoming favor needs.

Shalyce
