Wedding Inspiration | "Love Is In The Air"

I'm so happy that March is finally here, which means Spring is on its way! Today, it's snowing in the DC and Maryland area, so warmer weather can't get here soon enough. Although I'm stuck inside on this snowy day, in my mind I'm really relaxing on some island. Likewise, engaged couples are choosing more and more to travel for their wedding.

Many couples who want to get away and turn their nuptials into a week long celebration often consider taking their love in the air with a destination wedding. Even for the couples who love to travel but decide to host their wedding locally, you can still infuse a travel inspired theme into your big day in a number of ways, such as passport to love wedding programs that resemble passports, table names related to places you have traveled or taxi cab decor for a New York wedding. Also, you can take the travel theme a step further, and incorporate the concept in your engagement photos, wedding invitations, welcome bags and more. Check out some eye candy that has us all inspired to plan some destination and travel inspired weddings and events:

Event Inspiration | Couples Soirees

Fridays are meant to be FUN, so we're closing out this month's celebration of love and marriage with FUN. The next time you're considering a night out or having fun with friends, perhaps you and your significant other should host a soiree with your couples friends.

When it comes to co-ed functions, I'll all for incorporating fun games. My husband and I enjoy hosting and attending couples game nights with our friends. Not only are these type of events so much fun and filled with non-stop laughter, but I believe they also foster a positive community that celebrates love. To host a couples soiree that all your guests will enjoy, you should keep 3 things in mind:

1) Guest List - You can invite as little as four couples, or all the couples you know. Just as long as everyone invited is all about having an enjoyable time, then that makes for a great guest list.

2) Menu - This is especially important if you are hosting the soiree at your home. While you don't have to have an extensive menu, guests will typically expect to nibble on something when coming to an event at your home. Therefore, prepare or order appetizers and beverages at a minimum.

3) Fun activities - In order to have a great couples night, you must have something planned for your guests to do. While many couples can have fun simply socializing all night, it's still a good idea to have activities lined up, such as playing Taboo, cards and other interactive games. If you're inviting couples who all don't know each other, consider including some icebreaker activities, as well.

We hope these 3 simple steps will help to make hosting your next couples event a breeze. Now, to infuse more creativity into your event, a theme or going full throttle with your activities is the way to go. Anything from a poker party, to celebrity couples costume party at Halloween to a full out co-ed sports competition in the warmer months are perfect themed events that are sure to get your guests in the mood for fun.

I'm a big fan of the inspirational relationship and marriage site, The Dating Divas, whose mission is to strengthen marriages, one date at a time. Check out a few of the great ideas they share for couples soirees (click the photos below):

"Before I Said I Do" Feature

Happy Wedding Wednesday! We hope you had a wonderful time celebrating love on Valentine's Day. Congratulations to all the couples, who got engaged over the love-filled weekend! As a wedding planner, I'm constantly looking for inspiration to assist our brides and grooms in creating their sensational weddings. One of my favorite sources of inspiration is Munaluchi Bride. The renowned and stylish bridal magazine, serving women of color, recently launched a bi-weekly column on their website dedicated to sharing stories and advice from women on how they prepared for married life.

My husband and I will be celebrating our 6th wedding anniversary next month, so I am so honored to have been recently interviewed for the Munaluchi Bride's "Before I Said I Do" column. My interview can be found here. I don't profess to be a marriage expert, but I enjoyed sharing what I've learned over the years and things I'm still learning. Falling in love and marrying the love of your life is truly one of the most wonderful things in this world! Even when you're "crazy in love", that doesn't mean occasionally you might not drive each other crazy.  But guess what, everyday in marriage is totally worth it when you're married to your best friend, and the beautiful life you create together is priceless!

I salute Munaluchi Bride for creating the "Before I Said I Do" column, sharing wedding inspiration, and promoting positive images of love and marriage. If you are engaged, check out their website, magazine and social media pages. Inspiration alone is not enough to pull off a sensational wedding, so be sure to contact us at to schedule your complimentary wedding planning consultation.

Meet Sensational Couple, Jennell and Brad

Happy Wedding Wednesday! This month, as we continue to celebrate love and marriage, we are featuring a few sensational couples who have become apart of the Sensational Soirees family. Today, we would like you to meet sensational couple, Jennell and Brad, who are getting hitched next year. The beautiful couple plans to host a sensational wedding that exudes romance and non-stop celebration!  Read on to see what we learned about these two love birds... "Computer Love"

How did you meet? We met on the social site MySpace. Brad commented on a picture of my friends and I at a cookout, asking if he could come to the next one. We began to message one another daily and had our first date soon after.

When did you know you were meant to be? After 8 years of dating, it is hard to identify that defining "moment." While writing this feature, I asked Brad to choose a moment, and he says "I knew you were the one when I started doing things I had never done before." I asked like what and he states "when I gave you a foot massage and you know I hate feet."

Describe the proposal. Brad proposed at our son's 2nd birthday party and I was in complete "shock!" I never knew it would happen just 2 weeks after going ring shopping. Brad says "that occasion was chosen because it is one of the few moments that both our family and friends would be in attendance and I would least expect it."

What do you believe is the key to a successful relationship? We believe communication, date nights, compromising and friendship are the keys to a successful relationship.

Love is truly such a beautiful thing! We are so excited for these two, and are enjoying being apart of their journey to the aisle.

Sensationally yours,
