Sensational Soirees: MOMosa Brunch

Happy Saturday! The weather is yucky today here in DC, but despite the dreary weather I'm determined to have a wonderful Mother's Day weekend.

In fact, I'm enjoying watching my little girl at her dance class (in between typing this post), which I do every Saturday morning and the smile on her face melts my heart! I would typically also be at my son's football game too, but the rain rained on that parade. Being a mompreneur works well for me because of balance and the village who helps me manage motherhood and entrepreneurship! So this Mother's Day weekend, I'm celebrating being my own kind of superwoman, and rocking out motherhood.

Speaking of balance, last Saturday I not only was there for Cam's game and Cassidy's class, but I also designed a sensational soiree that was dedicated to celebrating fellow moms! This mommies and mimosas brunch event was truly special and beautiful. The fabulous event hostess, who is also one of my dear friends, really wanted to make sure all the ladies were treated to an enjoyable, kid-free afternoon, so with my help along with a private chef, we collectively got the job done. The event was held at her home, and I had so much fun transforming her living room with the help of Select Event Rentals.

The black, gold and hot pink color palette was the perfect mix of bold and feminine for this ladies soiree. I decked the tables out in black sequin linens, gold rimmed china, gold flatware, gold rimmed stemware and of course beautiful florals. The invited guests loved the decor, and couldn't stop raving about the delicious brunch prepared by Victory Chef, which included shrimp and grits, omelettes, breakfast potatoes, collard greens, fried chicken and french toast. You would think after such a yummy meal that we'd be in a food coma, but quite the contrary. We enjoyed conversing, connecting, encouraging and laughing with one another literally for hours! As moms, we truly need those times to just share and enjoy the company of others moms who get it, so this event was definitely a success.

Special thanks to my dear friend Taneka for hiring me to design this wonderful event, Select Event Group for the fabulous rentals, and Victory Chef for the wonderful meal!

How are you celebrating Mother's Day this weekend?! Share in the comments below. In addition to spending time with my mom, children and family, this weekend, I'll also be thinking of and praying for all of those whose moms and/or children are in heaven, that God's love will be with you in an extra special way.

Sensationally yours,

Shalyce

Christmas Brunch

Christmas is just 2 days away, and we are so excited! We hope you are enjoying this wonderful holiday season. If you haven't quite decided on your Christmas Day menu, then this "Tips Tuesday" post is just for you. My girlfriends and I always look forward to our annual Pre-Christmas soiree, where we enjoy the festivity of the holidays, delicious food, and exchange gifts. Each year, we take turns hosting, and this year was my turn. We all love brunch food, so it was a no brainer that I would go that route for the menu. With the help of my family, we whipped up a yummy spread for the ladies, and the afternoon was filled with laughter and lots of holiday cheer. Thanks to Bird's Party for the amazing, free printables!

Farewell to the Roaring 20s Party

Happy Friday! This month, we are continuing with new recaps of sensational soirees we planned this year. We were contacted to style a Great Gatsby inspired 30th birthday party this Fall, and I was absolutely thrilled. The Roaring 20s is a great theme to bring glam and flair to any celebration. Feathers, black, gold, and pearls set the scene for this "Farewell to the Roaring 20s" soiree, which took place at the birthday girl's home. Two of our favorite decor highlights were gatsby inspired centerpiece sticks by Charming Touch Parties and a fun 1920s photo prop station we created.

The "flapper girls" had an amazing time over a delicious brunch menu prepared by Victory Chef. Additionally, we created a roaring 20s sweets table, which included a Gatsby inspired cake and cupcakes by Dream Cakes by Tenisha. The birthday girl, Brittny, was lots of fun to work with and there's no doubt this fab soiree was a hit! See for yourself below (Photography by Subtle Silhouette Studios, except where noted otherwise):
