Happy Fashion Friday! Spring is finally here, so I'm super excited to begin switching up my wardrobe for the season.

I'm sure most ladies will agree, there's nothing like getting all dolled up for a soiree, wedding, gala or the like. Last Friday, I had the pleasure of attending #TheBishopsBall in celebration of the 70th Birthday and 50th Pastoral Anniversary of my pastor, Bishop Alfred A. Owens Jr. The elegant gala was held at the new Marriott Marquis hotel in D.C. next to the Washington Convention Center. Given that this was an After 5 affair, it meant a shopping opportunity for me, which I'll never complain about ;-)

Thanks to Instagram, I was able to find a fashion savior for the ball and future events...Rent the Runway (RTR)! There are simply some things you will likely only wear once, such as certain bridesmaids dresses, gala gowns, or even a birthday outfit. Well, thanks to my new friend, RTR, I no longer have to have tons of dresses and outfits for special occasions only worn once or twice in my closet. Instead, RTR offers the convenience of online shopping of designer fashions with 4 day and 8 day rental options...how amazing is that?! Not to mention, they have storefronts in D.C., Chicago, Vegas, and NYC.

I couldn't have been more pleased with the gown I chose for the ball, which was the Jill Jill Stuart Red Carolina Gown. There are 3 great things I loved about my experience with Rent the Runway:

1) 2nd Size for Free - I absolutely LOVE online shopping; however, many are fearful of going this route for special occasions due to fit concerns. Well, with RTR that no longer has to be an issue because you have the option to rent your dress in your preferred size and then select a 2nd size complimentary. Talk about awesome customer service, and being safe than sorry!

2) Amazing Prices - As mentioned previously, often times there are some things you will only wear once. That being said, who wants to always pay an arm and a leg for those one time looks (of course with the exception of a fabulous wedding gown). The retail price for the gown I chose was $348, but the rental price was $75. What a steal!

3) Easy as 1, 2, 3 - It was so easy to navigate the RTR site, filter by the color I was looking for and size needed, and of course shopping from the convenience of my home. With choosing the 4 day rental option, my dress (in 2 sizes) arrived in a garment bag 2 days before my event giving me enough time to make a last minute change, if needed. Luckily, the size I wanted worked out perfectly! The day following the ball, I simply repacked the gowns in the garment bag (with the lock and packing slip provided) and dropped off at a UPS drop box. Doesn't get easier than that, right?!

I felt absolutely sensational thanks to Rent Runway! To complete my look I got my makeup done by Lauren of Nicely Faces, hair styled by Kachina of C'est Chic Concepts, earrings from H&M, and wore my So Kate nude pumps from Christian Louboutin.

I promise if you give Rent the Runway a try, you will fall in love like I did. As a gift to you friends, enjoy snagging $20 bucks off of your first order here! Enjoy the rest of your Fashion Friday, and happy shopping!

Sensationally yours,

Shalyce
